Minister Hrvoje Vojkovic at a news conference on Sunday. #L#
The price rise is linked with a broad reform in the power sector, and
the prices will certainly go up, but it will not happen before the
establishment of an independent body for administrative price
regulation, Vojkovic explained.
A council for the regulation in the power sector, which is likely to
be set up in the mid-July, will make decisions on changes in prices
of energy products, he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Slavko Linic announced on Saturday the prices
of electricity and gas would go up before the summer, but stressed
this unpopular government measure was for the benefit of the
economy.
