BELGRADE, May 25 (Hina) - Despite agreements and decisions, nothing
has changed in the complicated granting of Croatian visas in
Yugoslavia, Yugoslav Interior Minister Zoran Zivkovic is quoted in
"Glas javnosti" daily of Saturday. #L#
He recalled an agreement with Croatian Interior Minister Sime Lucin
to the effect that visa issuing would be simplified, as well as that
Yugoslavia had passed a decision on the introduction of tourist
passes for Croatian citizens which should replace visas in the June
1 - Sept. 1 period.
Zivkovic said Croatia had still not instructed border services as
to the introduction of tourist passes for Yugoslav citizens but
hoped it would happen soon.
He pointed to lots of problems and long waiting in the issuing of
Croatian visas in Belgrade as against an absence of problems and a
much faster procedure employed by Yugoslav consulates in Rijeka,
Vukovar, and Zagreb.
"If we agreed on the introduction of passes with Croatia, I expect
we were dealing with serious and responsible people and that they
will act accordingly," said Zivkovic.
Between June 1 and Sept. 1, Croatian citizens may obtain the tourist
pass at border crossings with Yugoslavia. The pass, costing a
little over five euros, is valid 30 days.
