United Europe awaits and calls us, but also demands the respect of
certain rules, particularly regarding national minorities, he told
reporters.
Speaking about the Croatian-Yugoslav visa regime, Mesic said that
everyone had to answer for what they did. "But there should be no
fear that the culprits will be returning to where they committed
crimes," he added.
Asked about an initiative by the Joint Council of eastern Croatia's
predominantly Serb municipalities for the establishment within
existing schools special ones for children of Serb nationality,
Mesic said, "They are entitled to their education, but it isn't
sensible to separate children as it could lead to segregation."
