Commending Croatia's economic results, the EBRD president said
that the country's success was important for the entire region.
Croatia is the driving force in the region, and the EBRD has been
carefully following developments and increasing its engagement in
Croatia, Lemmiere said.
Linic said that the Croatian government sought the EBRD's support
for three state projects - road construction, primarily between
Zagreb and Split, the construction of a gas pipeline linking the
Adriatic Sea with the mainland, and the further development of the
national airline.
The EBRD is also expected to provide assistance in the development
of local self-government to improve water supply and waste water
management, and construct rubbish dumps, Linic said.
Another area where Croatia expects help is regional cooperation in
the private sector, Linic said, adding this primarily referred to
the food industry.
