ZAGREB, May 18 (Hina) - Croatian courts processed 2.7 million cases in 2001, the Justice Ministry said on Saturday. All courts recorded an increase in the number of cases and those which were solved. At the same time, the number of
backlog cases grew in comparison to the year before.

the same time, the number of backlog cases grew in comparison to the

A total of 1,618,721 cases arrived at municipal, commercial,
magistrates', county, administrative, high commercial and high
magistrates' courts last year. A total of 2,758,382 were processed,
1,510,733 were solved and 1,247,549 remained unsolved.
According to data on the work of courts, with the exclusion of
magistrates' courts, the number of cases which arrived for
processing was 1,202,057, a 8.93 percent increase as against the
year before.
A total of 1,111,549 cases were solved, 3.4 percent more than the
year before, while the number of unsolved ones also rose, by 9.73
percent.
