For those who doubted that Montenegro would persevere on this
general path, yesterday's election results represent a very
convincing sobering effect, Djukanovic said, adding that this
would enable a more dynamic realisation of the policy that will
allow Montenegro to access European and Euro-Atlantic structures
faster.
Djukanovic stressed that Montenegro was entering a significantly
different phase in its state politics.
He emphasised that the nationalism-oriented policy of the past was
being more and more marginalised, and that Montenegro was faced
with a secure, near, European, prosperous future.
The local elections in Montenegro were more or less conducted in
keeping with Council of Europe standards, a statement issued by the
OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) on
Thursday stated, adding that voting was mostly conducted in keeping
with legal provisions and in a peaceful atmosphere.
