Lucin made the statement answering a question by Croatian
Democratic Union's MP Ivic Pasalic, who inquired during question
time at the start of the 22nd parliamentary session what the police
intended to do to clarify claims that Mesic and Silajdzic had
discussed changes to the Dayton Agreement, which the Serbian paper
"Nedjeljni telegraf" published last week, quoting transcripts from
the Croatian Service for the Protection of the Constitutional Order
(SZUP).
Lucin said the weekly was not quoting "any SZUP transcripts or a
police report".
He dismissed claims that the "documents" were provided by the
Interior Ministry, saying he had not seen them and therefore could
not say if they were authentic, but he believed that they were
false.
The police are completing an investigation into the transcripts.
"Whoever provided the information to the press was working against
Croatia's national interests and the police are looking for those
persons," Lucin said.
Dissatisfied with Lucin's answer, Pasalic said he was not
interested in who had given the transcripts to the press, but in
their content and what the police had done about it. He then
requested an answer in writing to his inquiry.
