power plant Krsko, with three ministers of the Slovene Popular
Party voting against, the Slovene press agency STA said. #L#
The fate of the agreement is uncertain because both Slovene and
Croatian officials have expressed doubts regarding its purpose.
The reservations concern solutions to and the financing of nuclear
waste management once the plant is dismantled, as well as problems
caused by the stoppage of power delivery to Croatia four years ago,
and claims that the plant could be shut down due to international
pressures or the current trend of reduction of the number of active
nuclear power plants and switching to other types of power.
The agreement, which has not been ratified by the parliament yet,
envisages the provision of power from the plant to Croatia as of
July 1. The director of the plant, Stane Rozman, said that the plant
would continue operating in a normal and stable way even if the
agreement did not go in force.
