The protests organised by the Independent Union of Students from
Pristina University as a sign of support for the territorial
wholeness of Kosovo involved several hundred students equipped
with banners saying "Mitrovica is Kosovo" and "No division of
Kosovo".
The students demanded that the KFOR peace-keepers and UNMIK
completely integrate the northern section of Kosovo.
The president of the student union, Gani Morina, called on Kosovo
institutions and international factors to undertake effective
measures to preserve the territorial wholeness of Kosovo.
The protest was held while the Kosovo parliament discussed the
question of the Kosovo border and the situation in northern
Kosovska Mitrovica. The town is currently divided into a Serbian
and an Albanian section.
The police arrested several students amongst whom was the student
union president, Morina.
No one was injured during the protest.
