Mesic said on Sunday experts should not have been excluded from negotiations on the Croatian-Slovene nuclear power plant Krsko. "Experts know best how the issue has to be settled, and only then can politicians make decisions," Mesic said during a reception for representatives of the Slovene-Croatian Friendship Society. Added Mesic, "It is questionable if Croatia has a safe area for dealing with the waste after the nuclear power plan has been closed down." "Some say it is safe but I wouldn't risk. Experts and scientists should say that, and a decision will then easily be made," he said. Mesic said he entrusted his adviser on science and ecology to examine all the effects of the Croatian-Slovene agreement on Krsko, and that he would take a final stand only t
