SISAK, April 25 (Hina) - The German humanitarian organisation Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB/EC) and the Croatian Mine Action Centre (HCR) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding under which the German government is to donate
EUR760,000 within the Stability Pact for South-eastern Europe for mine clearance in Sisak-Moslavina County, and western and eastern Slavonia.
SISAK, April 25 (Hina) - The German humanitarian organisation
Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB/EC) and the Croatian Mine Action
Centre (HCR) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding under
which the German government is to donate EUR760,000 within the
Stability Pact for South-eastern Europe for mine clearance in
Sisak-Moslavina County, and western and eastern Slavonia. #L#
The memorandum was signed by German Ambassador to Croatia Gebhardt
Weiss, the head of the ASB/EC mission to Croatia, Wolfgang
Gressman, and the HCR head, Damir Gorseta. The signing ceremony,
which took place in Sisak, was also attended by the Croatian Foreign
Ministry's advisor on anti-mine actions, Dijana Plestina, and
Germany's military attach? to Croatia, Johannes Hellenschmidt.
Gorseta said that the German government had so far given Croatia
EUR2.5 million worth of mine clearance donations.
Ambassador Weiss announced that the German government would
continue to assist Croatia with mine clearance and removal of the
consequences of war.
Plestina thanked the Ambassador for his country's donation, adding
that the German example could serve to open the door to greater
contributions from other countries included in the Stability
Pact.
