Hungarian companies wish to participate in the Croatian economy
development process and, besides trade, are very interested in
cooperating in tourism, the modernisation of railways and roads,
and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.
A free trade agreement which came into force at the start of the year
has greatly contributed to Croatian-Hungarian cooperation, it was
said.
Trade between the two countries last year totalled US$287.2
million, with Hungary's export amounting to US$227.3 million, an
increase of 30 percent as against 2000. Croatia's export to Hungary
stagnated, falling to below US$60 million.
