The Serbian Justice Minister said at a news conference earlier on
Monday that Sainovic contacted the authorities and clearly
expressed wish to surrender to the ICTY.
Sainovic was one of the closest associates of the former Yugoslav
President Slobodan Milosevic, senior official of the Socialist
Party of Serbia (SPS) and a representative in the Yugoslav
parliament.
Spokesman for the SPS Branko Ruzic on Monday also dismissed claims
that Sainovic would surrender.
