These are data from a report on the implementation of a plan on de-
mining and funds spent for that purpose in 2001 and a plan on de-
mining for 2002 the government adopted on Thursday.
According to the report, suspicious areas cover 1,700 square
kilometres. It is estimated that around ten percent of those areas
are actually mined while the rest are believed to be mine-
infested.
This year's plan includes the de-mining of 69 square kilometres in
14 counties and it is expected that Dubrovnik County will be
completely cleared of mines. Mine-removal activities will require
882 million kuna. So far, donors have provided 330 million, while
the other 138 million will be secured from the budget.
