Although they promised to do so, Prime Minister Ivica Racan and
other ministers did not join in the campaign "Health Through
Movement", which was organised by the Health Ministry, the Public
Health Institute, and the Zagreb City Health Office on the occasion
of World Health Day.
President Mesic said that people cared about their health too
little and most had a sedentary life style. Such a style is not
natural, he said, calling on citizens to be more responsible
towards their health.
Movement and non-smoking are the two most important activities for
improving health, Health Minister Vlahusic said. Along with the
current campaign "Say Yes to Non-Smoking", the Ministry plans to
launch a programme for the promotion of physical activity, he
said.
Several hundred citizens, including disabled and elderly people
and medical workers joined in today's walk to Mt. Medvednica.
