Referring to a conversation with the police director, Ranko
Ostojic, Kurjak said that police had only received an anonymous
call accusing him, however, the State Prosecutor did not instigate
any criminal investigation nor had an investigative judge accepted
any such request.
Kurjak denounced claims in the media and a recent statement by
Health Minister Andro Vlahusic that the police were conducting a
investigation into accusations against Kurjak.
"I abominantly deny slander published in 'Globus', 'Jutarnji list'
and 'Slobodna Dalmacija'", Kurjak said, announcing charges against
all the journalists involved in writing the articles about the
commencement of investigative proceedings into the apparent abuse
of ovary banks, that were published in these papers.
Kurjak presented an entire series of documents, opinions by experts
and medical associations which, as he said, prove that these
accusations against him were fabricated and false.
