Testifying before a Rijeka County Court panel of judges, which is
presided by judge Ika Saric, both witnesses said they did not know
who had ordered them to line up or shoot, although they did hear the
order. They also said that they did not know who shot at the
civilians. The Lulics said they themselves did not shoot because
their rifles were uncocked and that later nobody checked their guns
to see if they had fired. They confirmed that one of the accused,
Stjepan Grandic, stood sidewise to the firing squad. None of the two
knew the victims' identity or inquired about the event later.
The trial resumes on Monday.
