THE HAGUE, April 3 (Hina) - Bosnian Serb Momir Nikolic pleaded not guilty to charges of genocide in Srebrenica in 1995 at his first appearance before the Hague-based International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on

guilty to charges of genocide in Srebrenica in 1995 at his first

"Not guilty", Nikolic kept answering while the judge read six
counts of his indictment which charges him with genocide, crimes
against humanity, and violation of the law and customs of war.
Nikolic, aged 47, arrived at the ICTY's detention centre
Scheveningen on Tuesday.
The Bosnian Serb, who at the time of the attack on Srebrenica was
deputy commander of the Bratunac security and intelligence
brigade, was arrested by the Stabilisation Force (SFOR) on Monday
on the basis of a sealed indictment.
Between 7,000 and 8,000 people were killed in the attack of the
Bosnian Serb army on the U.N. protected zone of Srebrenica in July
1995.
