Court, Momcilo Grubac, said in an interview for a Novi Sad newspaper. Processing war criminals would be the sign of Yugoslavia's maturity, Grubac said and added that the new Penal Code, which became effective at midnight Thursday, created a legal framework for war crimes trials. According to Grubac, the basic problem of domestic processing was the social aspect, because the society is not yet aware that persons who committed war crimes in the recent past must be brought to justice.
