Nominations Committee on Thursday decided to withdraw from
procedure its official decision on Zagreb mayor Vlasta Pavic's
resignation after Pavic did the same earlier in the day. #L#
This decision was announced at the beginning of today's session of
the Zagreb City Assembly by Committee president Ivo Jelusic.
Councillors from the Croatian Bloc and the Croatian True Revival
(HIP) requested a break due to the new circumstances.
Pavao Gagulic of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) said that the
fact that mayor Pavic this morning met with Prime Minister Ivica
Racan for additional consultations did the City Assembly no
credit.
At the beginning of the session, the councillors paid tribute to the
deceased mayor of Mainz, Jockel Fucks. Mainz and Zagreb have been
twin-towns for more than 35 years.
