Since the houses were not repossessed, international humanitarian
organisations have lost interest in further investments and the
reconstruction process has come to a standstill, said Kulovic.
Around 600 Kakanj Croats currently live in Drvar and around 220 have
returned to their pre-war homes so far, said Atifa Prozo, head of
the municipal service in charge of displaced people, refugees and
return.
A total of 1,952 of 16,000 Croats who lived in Kakanj before the war
have returned to their homes. A total of 483 housing units have been
repaired, while another 1,400 damaged or destroyed houses remain to
be rebuilt.
Ivo Bojic, head of the municipal service for administration and
property issues, said 710 of 937 claims for the repossession of
flats and 499 of 1,252 claims for the repossession of houses had
been processed so far.
