country and reduce its activities. #L#
The embassy said in a statement forwarded to Hina the decision was
made due to concerns caused by unconfirmed reports about threats to
security.
The security situation will be assessed and the embassy will again
start working with full capacity once conditions are created, the
statement read.
The State Department earlier warned its citizens about possible new
terrorist attacks, and diplomatic sources in Bosnia-Herzegovina
said that the US embassy had received unconfirmed information about
threats to security.
The US and British embassies in the country were temporarily closed
last year as well.
The Interior Ministry of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina said
police raided the offices of the humanitarian organisation
"Bosanska Idealna Futura".
The organisation has resumed the work of an Islamic humanitarian
organisation, "Benevolence International Foundation", which is
based in the United States and which operated in Bosnia from 1994 to
2001.
The federal police today confirmed an investigation into the
organisation's activities revealed irregularities in its
transactions as well as that some members of the staff were involved
in activities which are not part of the humanitarian programme.
The police reported that the investigation would continue.
