Deputy Prime Minister Slavko Linic reiterated several times that
the agreement was in line with the government's programme, which
was approved and adopted in parliament.
The agreement carried a message that we will have to shoulder the
burden of structural reforms and changes in the economic policy and
pay debts on our own, he said.
Linic allowed that the possible new arrangement should not include
so much criteria as the current one because Croatia's position was
different now.
The current arrangement, which had been prepared since the summer
of 2000, was approved by the IMF Board of Directors on March 19 last
year.
The Board of Directors will assess the implementation of the
arrangement on March 29. The arrangement expires on May 20.
