monetary policy at talks with Croatian officials in Washington. The Croatian officials said Croatia was interested in a new arrangement with the IMF after the current one expired.
WASHINGTON, March 15 (Hina) - Representatives of the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank presented a number of
positive assessments about the Croatian government's economic
measures and the Croatian National Bank's monetary policy at talks
with Croatian officials in Washington. The Croatian officials said
Croatia was interested in a new arrangement with the IMF after the
current one expired. #L#
"We have agreed that talks on that issue should start in Zagreb in
early May," Croatian Vice-Premier Slavko Linic said.
Croatia is interested in a new stand-by arragment with the IMF, he
said mentioning the possibility of a year-long arrangement with a
small loan, as it provided guarantees both for private and other
foreign creditors.
Members of the Croatian delegation at the talks are certain the IMF
Board of Executive Directors will positively assess the current
stand-by arragment with Croatia at a session on March 29.
The only criticism presented by the IMF and World Bank refers to
Croatia's high budgetary deficit.
