WASHINGTON, March 7 (hina) - Croatian Ambassador to the United States Ivan Grdesic on Wednesday met US Senator John McCain to discuss Croatia's joining the Membership Action Plan - MAP for joining NATO, economic situation in Croatia
and cooperation with the United States. The talks also focused on other current political issues in Croatia. According to a statement issued after the talks, Grdesic said Croatia's two strategic goals in foreign policy are joining NATO and the European Union. By signing the MAP, Croatia is preparing for full membership in NATO, Grdesic said. Senator McCain said he will support the realisation of Croatia's foreign policy goals. According to diplomatic sources in Zagreb, Croatia could be invited to join the MAP at a ministerial meeting if NATO member countries, scheduled to take place in Reykjavik in May.(hina) it
