premier, which is part of a gradual transfer of the central authority from the international community to the ethnic Albanians. The Kosovo parliament today also appointed nine of its ten ministers. The minister from the ranks of the Serb coalition Povratak has not been nominated as the coalition is yet undecided as to whether to participate in the work of the government. central authority from the international community to the ethnic

The Kosovo parliament today also appointed nine of its ten

Kosovo were appointed to the parliamentary presidency.
The new senior officials were congratulated by the UN civil
administrator in Kosovo, Michael Steiner.
The new government is made of three leading Albanian parties and two
minorities' coalitions. The Democratic Alliance of Kosovo has four
ministries, the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Alliance for the
Future of Kosovo two each, and the Povratak coalition and the non-
Serb minorities' coalition Vatan one each.
The new ministers are Ali Sadrija, Ali Jakupi, Rexhep Osmani,
Behxhet Brajshori, Ethem Qeku, Ahmet Jusufi, Zef Morina, Jakup
Krasniqi, and Numan Balic.
The new government will focus on the building of the
infrastructure, economy, schooling, welfare, and health. During
its three-year mandate it will not be authorised to decide about
Kosovo's future political status.
