KOSOVO: CALL FOR PEACE, TOLERANCE

PRISTINA, Feb 22 (Hina) - Kosovo is celebrating Kurban Bairam, the day of solidarity with the poor, the day of joy and remembering the dearest, with prayers said in all mosques where the faithful are called on to solidarity, peace, and tolerance. Mufti Rexep Boja, the president of the Kosovo Islamic community, called on solidarity, unity, peace, and tolerance Kosovo in front of hundreds of Islamic faithful who gathered at Pristina's biggest mosque on Friday. The sub-dean of the Pristina Faculty of Islamic Studies, Qemail Morina, recalled March 28, 1999, when there was no food when former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic expelled Albanians from their homes. Today Milosevic is on trial before the UN war crimes tribunal at The Hague, said Morina, confident all war criminals would be brought to justice to answer for the suffering inflicted on innocent people on the territory of the ex-Yugoslavia. Morina called on the faithful to turn towards the future and the building of Kosovo which will be ruled by law, tolerance, and peace, and where all citizens will be equal, regardless of faith or nationality.
