BELGRADE, March 1 (Hina) - The Ambassador of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to Yugoslavia, Stefano Sanino, has forwarded a letter to the Yugoslav Minister for National Minorities, Rasim Ljajic, saying
the unanimous adoption of a federal law on the protection of national minorities was an "encouraging sign". Sanino said the law, which was adopted unanimously by both parliamentary chambers on February 26, was one of the most liberal and most comprehensive ones in Europe. By adopting the law Yugoslavia has made another step forward in integration with European institutions, he said. The law envisages the establishment of a council of minorities, a federal fund for national minorities, and the appointment of an ombudsman for national minorities.(hina) sb rml
