MOSTAR, Feb 26 (Hina) - The secretary-general of Bosnia's Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ BiH), Josip Merdzo, on Tuesday announced his party intended to return to the House of Peoples of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina's
Parliament. The party has been boycotting the House of Peoples' work for a year as it is dissatisfied with a decision by a former head of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe's (OSCE) Mission in Bosnia, Robert Barry, which, in the party's opinion, enabled Bosniaks and representatives of other peoples, and not exclusively Croats, to elect Croat deputies to the federal House of Peoples. Merdzo sent a letter to the chairwoman of the Bosnian Electoral Commission, Lidija Korac, informing her about the HDZ's intention and requested instructions on the procedure of taking up 16 seats in the House of Peoples of the Croat-Muslim federation reserved for Croat delegates. MOSTAR, Feb 26 (Hina) - The secretary-general of Bosnia's Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ BiH), Josip Merdzo, on Tuesday announced his
party intended to return to the House of Peoples of the Federation
of Bosnia-Herzegovina's Parliament.
The party has been boycotting the House of Peoples' work for a year
as it is dissatisfied with a decision by a former head of the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe's (OSCE)
Mission in Bosnia, Robert Barry, which, in the party's opinion,
enabled Bosniaks and representatives of other peoples, and not
exclusively Croats, to elect Croat deputies to the federal House of
Peoples.
Merdzo sent a letter to the chairwoman of the Bosnian Electoral
Commission, Lidija Korac, informing her about the HDZ's intention
and requested instructions on the procedure of taking up 16 seats in
the House of Peoples of the Croat-Muslim federation reserved for
Croat delegates.
The HDZ said its decision was the result of changes to the electoral
law.
