RIJEKA, Feb 19 (Hina) - In the continuation of the trial against the so-called "Gospic group" at the Rijeka County Court on Tuesday, witness Ivica Markovic described the course of a so-called "deadly meeting" and the execution of
civilians at Pazariste near Gospic. He asserted that he had not shot at the civilians and could not prevent the execution because he would have been killed as well had he tried to object. Markovic was appointed coordinator of the town prison in 1991, which he said was "a bogus job" without a proper job description and duties. He said he did not feel any responsibility for the Pazariste executions. Markovic also mentioned having received phone threats and being visited at home by some people before and after his first testimony in the investigative proceedings and before his testimony in the trial. He did not want to speak about the persons who threatened him, due to, he said, personal safety. Members of
