THE HAGUE, Feb 5 (Hina) - The most important trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) to former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, will start on Tuesday, February 12, at 09:30 hours, the
tribunal's Trial Chamber III decided on Tuesday. The Trial Chamber consisting of judges Richard May, Partick Robinson and O-Gon Won, issued an order to proceed with the trial following a decision by the Appeals Chamber of February 1 to join the Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo indictments against Milosevic. The Prosecution should by noon on Thursday, February 7, confirm that the order of witnesses for the trial remains unchanged or file an amendments order of witnesses by that time. The Trial Chamber will determine what adjournments are appropriate
for the preparation of the trial on the charges relating to Bosnia
and Croatia in order to safeguard the rights of the accused and to
ensure a fair and expeditious trial.
The Prosecution should be ready for the trial by July 1, 2002. The
Prosecution should also complete disclosure of all witness
statements pursuant to Rule 66a of the Rules by Tuesday, April 2,
2002.
Both the Prosecution and the accused shall have the opportunity to
present such further opening statements addressing the charges
relating to Bosnia and Croatia at a time which the Trial Chamber
determines to be appropriate.
