ZAGREB, Feb 14 (Hina) - Ericsson Nikola Tesla ended last year with
240 million kuna of gross profits, which is a 250 percent increase
as against the year before. The company's president Ake Enell said
in Zagreb on Thursday the result was a great accomplishment given
the recent slump on the global telecommunications market.
The company, which specialises in sales, design, software
development, production, implementation and maintenance services
for telecom systems and devices, last year reduced production costs
by 13 percent while its orders increased by seven percent.
The sale of the company's basic product range increased by 18%.
The scope of business activities expanded both on old as well as on
the new African market. Sales on foreign markets doubled as against
2000, accounting for 60% of the company's overall business.
On the domestic market, the company has seen a 30% drop in sales,
accompanied by a trend of increase of sale costs.
The process of reorganising the company into a software company
which researches, develops, designs and integrates top-quality
integral communication solutions and services continued last year,
Enell said, adding software from Croatia had been integrated in the
world's first commercial 3G network, which started operating last
year in Tokyo and surrounding areas.
The value of new orders from Central and East European, Middle East
and African markets reached 304 million kuna this January. Russia
will continue to be the company's most important market, but
Ericsson Nikola Tesla also expects results on neighbouring and new
African markets, as well as on the inter-company market.
The company today donated 350,000 kuna-worth of communications
equipment to several Zagreb hospitals.
