ZAGREB, Jan 31 (Hina) - Academician philosopher Predrag Vranicki, aged 81, died in Zagreb on Thursday after a long illness. Born in Benkovac in 1922, Vranicki was, until retirement in 1976, a regular professor at the Faculty of
Philosophy in Zagreb, at one time the dean, as well as Zagreb University Chancellor. He was elected full member of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences' (HAZU) social science department in 1973. Vranicki published several studies, articles, papers and books, one of the best known being "The History of Marxism", the first and only such work in the world philosophy literature. It was translated into several European languages, as well as Chinese. His last work was a three-volume "Philosophy of History". The first volume was issued by Zagreb's "Golden Marketing" publishing company in 2001. The second volume is being printed, while the third is being prepared for printing.
