VINKOVCI, Jan 31 (Hina) - Yugoslavia has delivered protocols for 24 of some 300 Croatians gone missing in the Serbian aggression and known to be buried in Yugoslavia, the head of the Croatian government's office for detained and
missing persons said on Thursday. According to reliable information, the Novi Sad cemetery contains the remains of 87 unidentified persons and the Srijemska Mitrovica cemetery another 100, Ivan Grujic said in the eastern town of Vinkovci. "Croatia has had reliable information since 1993 and documentation since 1994 that there are remains of more than 300 unidentified persons in various places in Yugoslavia - Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sombor, Nis, and Srijemska Mitrovica," said Grujic, reminding it was only last May that Yugoslavia admitted to the fact that remains of Croatians were buried on its territory. Croatia is particularly interested in the Srijemska Mitrovica
cemetery, which contains the remains of some 100 persons listed as
detained and missing Croatian soldiers and civilians, of whom some
were detained at the Srijemska Mitrovica detention camp, said
Grujic.
There are 1,401 Croatians still listed as detained and missing, of
which 654 from the eastern Vukovar-Srijem County, he added.
