expenditure to 50.38 billion kuna (EUR6.69 billion), accounting for a 2.23 billion kuna (EUR296.1 million) deficit, the Finance Ministry said in a statement Tuesday. The overall revenue in last year's first 11 months increased by 18.2 percent in relation to the same period in 2000, due to higher privatisation revenues and the inclusion of pension insurance contributions starting with July 2001. The ministry's statistics show a total of 36.97 billion kuna were collected through taxes (excluding the pension insurance contributions), which is 1.6 percent higher than in the same period in 2000.
