ZAGREB, Jan 23 (Hina) - Mirko Galic is re-appointed director of the Croatian Radio and Television (HRT). Galic was re-appointed by a majority vote at Wednesday's session of the HRT Steering Council. Four of seven members of the
Steering Council voted for Galic at today's session. He was elected among seven candidates after secret voting held in several rounds. In line with the Law on the Croatian Radio Television, the proposal on Galic's appointment will be forwarded to the HRT Council, which is expected to voice its opinion. The Council is expected to discuss Galic's appointment at a session scheduled for February 7. Galic is appointed to a four-year mandate, however, should television and radio separate as it had been announced, the position will be put out to tender. He said he would advocate HRT's final transition into public radio
and television, as well as the implementation of a new business
system, the digitalisation of programmes and the modernisation of
