Granic was Croatia's Foreign Minister during the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) rule.
Relations between Croatia and Italy have since 1993 until recently
been on a constant ascending line, in both political and economic
sense, Granic said and added the appointment of the new Italian
foreign minister was very important for Croatia.
According to him, should someone linked to Silvio Berlusconi be
appointed to the duty, namely a hard-liner, there will be negative
consequences for Croatia-Italy relations at least for some period
of time. His recommendation is Croatia's active policy towards
Italy and the European Union.
