PRISTINA, Jan 10 (Hina) - Ibrahim Rugova, the Kosovo Democratic Alliance (DSK) candidate for president, on Thursday again failed to win the sufficient number of votes in the Kosovo parliament to be appointed Kosovo president.
Parliament Speaker Nexhat Daci said after the vote 118 deputies attended the session, of whom 80 took part in the vote. There were 50 votes for, 29 invalid ones, and four abstentions. Eighty votes in favour were required for appointment. Today's vote was boycotted by two leading Albanian parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, which is headed by Hashim Thaqi, and the Alliance for Kosovo's Future, as well as some non-Serb minority parties. In the third round of voting, which has not been scheduled yet, Rugova needs only a majority vote, 60 votes plus one, to be elected Kosovo president.(hina) sb rml
