INVESTIGATION AGAINST FORMER INTERIOR MINISTER STARTED

ZAGREB, Jan 23 (Hina) - An investigation against former Interior Minister Ivan Jarnjak started on Wednesday for suspicion of stopping the criminal prosecution of the persons suspected of embezzlements in the privatisation of the "Slobodna Dalmacija" daily in 1993. The investigation was opened by Zagreb County Court Investigating Judge Mirjana Rigljan who said the Prosecution suggested that eight witnesses and a representative of the association of persons who lay claim to the "Slobodna Dalmacija" stocks as the plaintiff. Jarnjak is suspected abusing his powers during the privatisation process in "Slobodna Dalmacija. The Prosecutor's Office claims Jarnjak had stopped a criminal investigation and prevented the processing of persons responsible for illegal selling of daily's stocks.
