Bandic. The party, however, did not discuss the new candidate at tonight's meeting. According to an SDP official, the new mayor has to be elected in 30 days starting January 31 when Bandic will officially resign. In case the new mayor is not elected within that time, the government will appoint a commissioner and call an election. The SDP president and Croatia's Prime Minister, Ivica Racan, expressed satisfaction with tonight's session. "We have to disappoint those who didn't expect unity within the SDP", said Racan without discussing yesterday's decision in detail.(hina) it
