ORTHODOX FAITHFUL CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS

ZAGREB, Jan 7 (Hina) - The metropolitan of the Zagreb-Ljubljana-Italy diocese, Jovan, celebrated mass in Zagreb on Monday on the occasion of the Serb Orthodox Christmas, according to the Julian calendar. The metropolitan welcomed all believers by saying "God's Peace, Christ is Born!" At the end of the ceremony, archpriest Milenko Popovic read a message by the patriarch of the Serb Orthodox Church, Pavle, who called on all believers to fight sin, and embrace love, forgiveness and repentance. Metropolitan Jovan expressed satisfaction with the improvement of relations among the Christian churches. He reminded the head of the Croatian Catholic Church, Zagreb archbishop Josip Bozanic, had wished patriarch Pavle a merry Christmas, and that other Croatian bishops issued Christmas messages to members of the Serb Orthodox Church.
