The IDS is aware of the fact that one should not expect the new
government to continue the process of state decentralisation because
the party which composed it "had been the strongest opponent of
decentralisation for a decade", Jakovcic said.
"In that context we don't see any chance of a serious political
dialogue about that issue, but we do see a chance for talks on all
programmes that are relevant for Istria's development," he said.
Jakovcic said that the most important political event in 2003 was "the
return of the right-wing to power", which he believes may have
far-reaching consequences for the country's future.
The coalition of the IDS and the Social Democrats in constituency no.
8 was successful, Jakovcic said, adding that his party wanted to
continue the cooperation and was open to cooperation with other
parties as well.
