BELGRADE, Dec 29 (Hina) - Unidentified perpetrators toppled a monument to Croatian 16th century peasant rebel leader Matija Gubec in the village of Tavankut near Subotica on Sunday evening, the Belgrade-based Radio B92 reported on Monday.
BELGRADE, Dec 29 (Hina) - Unidentified perpetrators toppled a monument to Croatian 16th century peasant rebel leader Matija Gubec in the village of Tavankut near Subotica on Sunday evening, the Belgrade-based Radio B92 reported on Monday.#L# Subotica mayor Geza Kucera condemned the incident, saying that its purpose was to spoil the good inter-ethnic and political relations in the town. According to unofficial results of Sunday's parliamentary elections in Serbia, "The Coalition for Tolerance - Canak-Kasa-Ljajic" won the most votes in Subotica - 33.18 percent. It is followed by G17 Plus of Miroljub Labus with 20.13 percent, the Serb Radical Party with 16.7 percent, and the Democratic Party with 9.02 percent. The Socialist Party of Serbia of Slobodan Milosevic won 1.66 percent of the vote. The new Serbian parliament will be composed of the Radical Party, G17 Plus, the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia. Other parties did not pass the election threshold of five percent.
