ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Air Force and Anti-Aircraft Defence (HRZ and PZO) on Friday organised a ceremony to mark the day when 12 years ago they were formed from a number of independent war units, which at the time joined in the Homeland War with obsolete and makeshift equipment.
ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Air Force and Anti-Aircraft Defence (HRZ and PZO) on Friday organised a ceremony to mark the day when 12 years ago they were formed from a number of independent war units, which at the time joined in the Homeland War with obsolete and makeshift equipment. #L# The commander of the Air Force, General Viktor Koprivnjak, said that the HRZ had been established in times of war and a ban on weapons import, as well as that it had given a great contribution to the victory of the Croatian army in final liberation operations. Offering her best wishes on the 12th anniversary, Defence Minister Zeljka Antunovic said, among other things, that the HRZ had been among the first segments of the army to start employing new generations of staff, adding that young flyers were expected to act professionally. Retired General Petar Stipetic, envoy of the President of the Republic and Armed Forces' Supreme Commander, said that during the war some 300 pilots and numerous other staff had left the former Yugoslav People's Army to form the HRZ.
