The behaviour which encourages violence brings into question the
functioning of the rule of law, and can have serious consequences
for the legal security of citizens and their property, read a
statement released after Thursday's meeting of the Croatian
Supreme Court President Ivica Crnic and the presidents of the
Administrative, the High Commercial Court, the Higher Petty
Offence Court and all county courts.
The presidents of the courts recall that any form of influence on
the process of making court decisions is not allowed and that
everybody is obliged to respect and comply with the final and biding
court ruling.
The statement does not say which concrete cases have prompted the
presidents of courts to give this warning.
Discussing the work of judges in the first nine months this year,
the participants in the meeting concluded that a vast majority of
judges did their job fairly and on time.
There are some problems in courts in Zagreb and Split where the
highest number of cases should be processed and where there is an
insufficient number of judges and the facilities and offices are
inadequate.
