Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Rados said that
according to the election results, it was logical that the HDZ
should be given the mandate to form the new government.
Libra could join talks about the forming of the so-called left
government, Rados said, adding however that there was little chance
that such a government would be formed.
Asked to comment on the possibility of the future HDZ-led
government including a Serb minister, Rados said this would not be
illogical or dramatic for politics in Croatia, but he did not know
if this was dramatic for the HDZ.
Rados said that Libra was satisfied with its election results, as in
the new parliament it would be the only liberal party which would be
able to form a club of deputies.
Libra today announced that it had spent around 1.8 million kuna of
budgetary funds for the election campaign.
Rados said that other parties, too, should make their campaign
costs and donations public in order to remove any doubt of political
favours or money laundering.
He believes that political parties spent too much money in the
campaign and that five million kuna would have been enough for a
good campaign.
As soon as the parliament is constituted, Libra will propose a law
on the financing of political parties, which would limit the
financing of party campaigns from the state budget and donations.
The party believes that at least 50 million kuna of budgetary funds
would be saved this way.
Libra will also propose legal changes which would prevent parties
which are politically inactive from running in elections.
