Marijana Petir told reporters on Tuesday that HSS leader Zlatko
Tomcic would on Wednesday start talks with the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) leader Ivo Sanader on a possible coalition. #L#
Tomcic will present three conditions for a possible coalition -
change of the economic policy, the establishment of a government of
experts, and a stronger parliament, Petir told reporters while the
HSS presidency was in session behind closed doors.
The HSS presidency today discussed its election results, with which
it is not satisfied.
Petir said the party presidency today did not discuss a possible
coalition with the HDZ, nor did it adopt starting points for
negotiations because it had already defined conditions for its
joining a coalition government.
Asked whether the HSS would form a coalition with the HDZ if Sanader
accepted the HSS' conditions, Petir said this was a hypothetical
question and the party did not discuss it.
She said that she did not know that Tomcic would meet Social
Democrat leader Ivica Racan tomorrow as well.
Petir said that the HSS presidency would also analyse elections as a
whole, including their financial aspect, and present its
conclusions to the public.
