ZAGREB, Nov 21 (Hina) - A report, drawn up by the Ivica Racan Cabinet at the end of its term of office, reads that the biggest successes of the current government were pulling the country out of international isolation and accelerated integration into the European Union. #L# According to the report, entitled 'Croatia 2000-2003', the incumbent government has achieved internal political and economic stability and kickstarted economic development. The statements are corroborated with data on a 5.2 percent economic growth in 2002, which was the highest growth rate in the region. The government also pointed to the successful road construction, increased army and police efficiency, reduction of military and police staff, and lower costs. Responding to criticism that the authorities were socially insensitive, the government said the benefits from social welfare schemes were doubled. As regards the judiciary, the report points to the establishment of the USKOK, a body for the fight against organised crime and corruption, a cut in the number of cases in which the statute of limitations has run out, and efforts to regulate land registers, as well as greater media freedoms and more active civic organisations in the field of civil society. The government also cited its results in fields of environmental protection, education, science and culture. (hina) ms sb
