SPLIT, Nov 20 (Hina) - Ivic Pasalic, the head and first candidate on
the slate of the Croatian Bloc/Croatian True Revival party
coalition (HB/HIP) in constituency no. 10, said at an election
rally in a packed sports hall Gripe in Split on Thursday the
policies of Ivica Racan and Ivo Sanader were the same. #L#
"We are a dangerous coalition for them and that is why they have
joined forces to push us back as much as possible. They are waving
surveys, but our rallies show that most polls are doctored,"
Pasalic said.
The HB leader believes that Racan and Sanader want to tie Croatia to
the Western Balkans for good. The HIP/HB coalition will not permit
the hand-over of General Ante Gotovina because "the indictment
against him is an indictment against the foundations of the
Croatian state". As soon as the HIP/HB coalition comes to power, it
will organise a referendum on cooperation with the UN war crimes
tribunal in The Hague.
"Sanader has invited Serbs to return to Croatia and we are saying to
them to wait a little. We are not challenging the right of Croatian
citizens to return to Croatia, but only after the economic
situation is improved. Sanader should go to Knin and see for himself
how both the Serbs and Croats live in difficult conditions,"
Pasalic said. "It is our interest to first provide for Croats from
Bosnia-Herzegovina, who we cannot throw out on the street just like
that," he added.
HIP leader Miroslav Tudjman said that the upcoming elections were
as important as those in 1990. "In 1990 we decided if we were for an
independent Croatia and in 2003 we decide if Croatia will be a
colony or if we will be one's own people in one's own country, he
said. Racan has "de-tudjmanised" Croatia and now Sanader has joined
him, he added.
War veteran Mirko Condic said the coalition would defeat the
anational communist authorities and prevent Sanader from arresting
Gotovina. Once Racan, (Croatian People's Party leader Vesna)
Pusic, and (War Veterans Affairs Minister Ivica) Pancic are
disempowered, Mesic and his "Soros company" will be next in line, he
said.
The gathered chanted names of Condic, Tudjman and Gotovina.
Performing at the rally was gusle-player Marko Kunac, who sang
derogatory songs about Mesic, Racan and Pusic, glorifying Pasalic,
Condic, war crimes convict Mirko Norac, and Gotovina.
