ATHENS, Nov 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on
Thursday wrapped up his three-day visit to Greece with a tour of the
ancient Greek sanctuary of Delphi. #L#
Mesic, who described his official visit to Greece as successful,
said he and his hosts had held good talks and "we were given
assurances that Greece would support us on our path towards
Europe," Mesic told Croatian reporters after the Delphi tour. He
added that the talks mostly revolved around the strengthening of
economic cooperation.
Special attention was given to cooperation in tourism and the
shipbuilding industry and plans for the construction of the
Adriatic-Ionian highway.
Croatia's head of state believes that Europe should recognise the
benefits it will have from this highway as "it will give incentives
to economic and human resources in the entire region", and it may
also contribute to the political linking with western Europe,
besides the real connection by road.
